In the process that Aurora Pharma Ltd. uses for the manufacture of our spagyric tinctures, the original substance is first separated into the three principles – Body, Soul and Spirit – on the one hand, and into the four elements – Fire, Air, Water and Earth – on the other. They are subsequently reunited on a higher, incorporeal plane into a substance of higher value with considerably stronger power. Through this process, the spagyric healer produces a medicine at its highest possible energy level: the Arcanum Quinta Essentia.
 Fermentation Process
In a first step, the plant is placed in water and, if necessary, subjected to steam distillation to distill off the ethereal oils. Subsequently, yeast and sugar are added to the plant residue. The fermentation process that is hereby initiated (Putrefactio) is the first step in the manufacturing process.
Separation
Now the separation (Separatio) occurs, during which the three principles – Spirit (alcohol), Soul (sap) and Body (plant body) – are separated. Several distillations are performed to achieve this, because the mercurial portion must in turn be separated into the four elements. Each of these elements is itself divided again into the three aspects Spirit–Soul–Body, such that after separation, there are 12 different, clear distillates. Together, these make up the mercury of the plant.
Purification
Purification (Purificatio) is the third step. In this step, the sulphur ashes and plant ashes are combined and calcined at 1150 °C. Since the poisons (alkaloids, glycosides, etc.) of a plant are always found in the salt, they are incinerated at this high temperature. The salt produced by this method is thus free of poison. This procedure is also called purity calcination. Analogously, the twelve distillate essences are also purified again by a technique called cohobation, then reunited in special proportions. These proportions are very important; the male principle (Agens) and the female principle (Patiens) are reunited in perfect balance. The correct proportions produce the milky archaeus, to which the previously distilled ethereal oils are added. Archaeus, salt and ethereal oils are now available in their purist forms.
Chymical Wedding and Quinta Essentia
What happens now is the chymical wedding, the unification (Cohabitatio) by which the mercury (archaeus) is united with the sulphur and the salt of the plant. Through a chemical transmutation, the fifth essence is produced, the Quinta Essentia, which contains within it all healing powers of the plant in a state of highest perfection.
Circulation
The fifth and last step is circulation (Multiplicatio), which continually strengthens the energetic powers of the tincture. Through the separation of the medicine from poisons and the reunification of the purified substances (chymical wedding), the medicinal powers are born. This spagyric transformation process brings the plant to its highest possible energy level. The Arcanum Quinta Essentia is the active ingredient of the medicinal plant.
