is Spagyric?
Spagyric medicine is an ancient, holistic natural healing process according to the rules of alchemy, which regards the body, soul and spirit as one entity in balance.
Spagyric medicine returns to the old traditions of alchemical medicine. Through spagyric medicine, the fundamental aspects of a medicinal plant are brought into an optimal form for assimilation by the organism. As a result of the specific, spagyric manufacturing methods, the medicine contains the necessary dynamic to set the healing process in motion.
The word spagyric is of Greek origin and describes, according to the alchemy termed “Spagyria”, a specific method of preparation of plant and mineral substances. Assembled from the Greek words “Spao” (separate, dissolve, parting) and "Ageiro" (combine, unite), the word spagyric refers to the two fundamental alchemical techniques that are used for the preparation of medicinal substances; separation and combination. By separation and parting of the original substance into its diverse components, the useful is first separated from the useless. Using a specific method of new composition, the different components are combined together again. The spagyric agent manufactured in this manner contains the medicinal substances in refined form and is thus more therapeutically effective than the original substance. Spagyric is therefore alchemy in practice and adheres to alchemical laws.
Principles of spagyric medicine
A fundamental concept of alchemy is the reality of an “original substance”, a "prima materia", from which all life arose. This “original substance”, seen as the material basis for life, is a quantitative, unchanging factor. It cannot be increased and nothing from this original substance is ever lost. However, its quality can change and it can take on new forms. Accordingly, all life is thus a process of development and change, a process that is characterised by qualitative changes. Every medicine can heal or poison – the deciding factor is the dose. The basic principle of the spagyric manufacturing process is that the poisonous, impure parts of the plant must be separated from the healing, pure parts. Spagyric medicines are not effective because of their ingredients; rather, they are effective because of the metaphysical powers released by the manufacturing process.
